Writer, academic, and consultant

I am an Indigenous woman of Biripai country in Taree New South Wales. My culture is important to me, as is understanding what having a diverse heritage and identity can bring to innovative ways of thinking. Prior to academia, I have worked in government and community organisations supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
My purpose is to firstly demonstrate humanity as best I can. The knowledge you build and then share is the most powerful thing you can gift to yourself and others. Power built within an individual can do anything - It can create futures for people and bring agency into their lives. I am passionate in discussing how to disrupt, reframe and work productively for a better society. My drive comes from seeing the power of change for people and having a deep desire for social justice.
I have a PhD in leadership and Indigenous women in Australia. I am multidisciplinary in my approach, writing and discussing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, feminist power, media representation, leadership and Indigenous Research. I have also done work in the areas of public health and education.
The way to agitate with meaning is to disrupt structural ideas and systems to see knowledge become a positive power in society. Changing representations in society across numerous areas takes time and foundation building. But a shift is occurring, and I want to be a part of this.
